Each of my bird scarves began with a different source of inspiration.

Each bird has its own personality, character and place in the New Zealand landscape. When I paint them, I try to capture something of that individuality and bring it to life through colour, movement and silk.
For me, these scarves are a way of sharing a little piece of Aotearoa with you — something beautiful to wear and something meaningful to remember your journey by.

Each scarf begins with a bird that has captured my imagination in a different way.

Little Penguin — Kororā
When I paint the kororā, I try to capture that sense of the coast — the movement of the sea, the freshness of the air and the quiet charm of these little birds.

Kea
I wanted my kea scarf to reflect the Intelligent native parrot through colour and movement, creating a piece that feels playful, distinctive and full of life.

Seagull
A celebration of the simple connection with the sea — the freedom of the sky, the movement of the wings and that wonderful feeling of being beside the ocean.

Kiwi
Painting the flightless kiwi gave me the opportunity to create my own artistic interpretation of a bird that so many visitors hope to discover during their New Zealand journey
